Intro Blog: How love comes from mystery

 Hello, my name is Ben Polsky. For my 1st blog I've been required to discuss how I ended up in AICE Media Studies. If I am honest, it was not my 1st option. Though I do love watching films and specifically studying cinematography I did not choose as my 1st option. I guess I have come to be proven incorrect over time. I now like this class quite a lot. Some of my favorite films and series are Parasite, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Master of None, L'Avventura, Get Out, and Ratatouille. They are all a bit different but truly express how magic is made from film in general. I am currently excited to see what will ensue with this new project. The first project. I had some rough ideas though I know those will be adjusted as I am working with group members that have their own input. I also am glad people I am friendly with chose to tale the class. Especially the ones in the same period. It automatically gives me an advantage when it comes to collaborating with people. Some of my friends came up with products to create a commercial on. Though I do like my ideas better I am flexible. I can tell this class has not progressed to it's full potential. I have patience yet anticipation to get there as quickly as possible. I was thinking about important products like medicine or health products. Or even relating famous products to current events. Like relevant times. I think it could have a deeper message.

Storyboard blog: Storyboard for our music video

  Storyboard Blog Scene 1: Our music video starts out with all the characters walking up to a ticket booth. The ticket booth of an ice skating rink. The characters hand the ticket booth worker money and buy their tickets. This will be a medium-long shot. Scene 2: There is a wipe transition to characters walking to the rink. They head over to the ice skates place. This will be an over the shoulder shot. Scene 3: There is a jump cut. They then purchase their ice skates. Everyone now grabs their ice skates in a medium-long shot. Scene 4: This scene starts out with a split screen of character putting on their ice skates. Tying their laces. It beings with a fade-in. Scene 5: Our characters walk onto the ice. We are using a tracking shot to follow them around the ice skating rink.  Scene 6: One of our characters is focused on. They are ice skating as well. Editing blog: Time for modifications!

 For editing the first half the video we took a simpler route. Giving Addison the job of main editor. We started out at the beginning of the song. I knew that we needed 1 minutes and 15 seconds of film but we could put the video at the start of any point in the song. We put the clips in order of what the storyboard called for. The video of me and my group walking into the ice rink. We bought our tickets and then the video pans to us putting on the ice skates. Addison used a great technique for this. I'm not sure exactly what editing software she was using but it gave a nice slide transition. I hadn't seen it before. It was quiet neat. Another thing I liked was the use of cropping. When the chorus was sung again, it showed us getting on the ice. I thought that it created a sense of memorization. Critical Reflection

In this critical reflection I will be exploring how my movie, "Can't Be That Hard", does the following things. Represent social groups, create branding, engage with the audience, and how my movie uses/challenges conventions. All of these are key in a proper reflection and look back at one's work. Especially something so tedious and detailed as a short film.  My movie, "Can't Be That Hard", is about 3 friends who feel bored, so, they rob a bank. It is a story of irony and action. Looking back at our film through a lens of critical reflection, our product successfully represents issues people face today. In the film you can witness boredom due to technology and over stimulation. The 3 friends are too comfortable with their technology and are over stimulated by it to the point of deciding that robbing a bank could cure their boredom.
