Almost getting to the end! Production Blog

Image
Wow this is amazing! We've basically finished filming. We need a couple more shots. Just to perfect it. And more time editing. But we are making great progress. Today we planned to meet. We want to continue filming. We need to film Sydni's part. Her part should be relatively easy. But we need to finish it asap. To make sure everything is good. And leave time for new scenes. New shots. New edits, and other things. Just in case we want to add something or reshoot something. It's good to leave good time in advance. But we are almost there. I looked at what we have so far with Ayden today. It looks wonderful.

We are still continuing to film. As we keep filming I can see our film coming together. Whether that be from the editing process beginning. Or whether that be from the new scenes we've filmed. I've started to realize a couple things. Here's the first thing. It takes a while just to film 2 minutes of a movie. Here is why. Shots need to be perfected. It takes a while to get a shot in a way in which you like it. Here is the 2 nd thing. Editing is hard. I think editing is such an underap preciated aspect . Today we edited. Ayden and I on his computer. We used an application called iMovie I believe. Editing is such an important part of a movie. Even for 2 minutes of film. It took almost 3 hours for Ayden to finish successfully editing what we have already. Soon we will film with Sydni for the final day of filming.

What a day! Production blog

Filming is on a roll! I could not film today. It was a Wednesday today. But that is alright. Trevor has to go away for spring break. He is touring colleges. Today was the only day he was able to film. Ayden was also available today. Trevor and Ayden went to the park. We got a family friend of ours to play the kid that Trevor was babysitting. From what I saw everything looked great! They filmed for a couple hours getting as many shots as possible. Then Trevor had to leave to get ready to leave Thursday morning. So Ayden went to start editing. I am going over to his house after school on Thursday. He is going to show me what he has done. Then we can maybe film with Sydni on Sunday. I am very excited! Now starts spring break! Which means more free time to film!

Que up day 3! We are continuing to film today! It's been so fun. As well as many other things. It has been very informative. As well as a growing moment. Today Ayden and I filmed some more. We got 2 scenes done. With Sydni this time. It was fun because we had to switch up our angles. That meant some edits to our storyboard. But that is fine. We also learned some new tricks. Finding out some cool features on our camera. We're just using a standard iPhone camera. It has so many cool tricks and features to help make movies! I found out about a .5 zoom lens that looks super duper cool! I say that it is a growing moment for 2 reasons as well. I have learned to collaborate better and I have learned to use my phone's camera better. Cannot wait for the next days of filming!

Day 2 of filming has begun! The process so far has been so fun. It's been so creative. I've got to hang out with my friends. All the while doing a fun project. It feels so natural. There's lots of laughter. Today we studied the script and storyboard. We added the actor that plays the little kid. He is a family friend of Ayden, Trevor, and I. We didn't shoot with him. Yet we walked him through the step by step procedure. Like a rehearsal if you may. He's about 7 years old. Ayden and I talked some more about our vision. He'll be taking over the editing. While I'll be taking over the cinematography. We talked about what he had in mind for our editing. I added some input. But what he had was already pretty awesome.

Starting the film

Image
Today we started to film our movie. Our group has 4 members. This means that 2 members did the acting. Those were Trevor and Sydni's jobs. This left 2 members to do the filming and cinematography. That was the job of me and Ayden. We started in the middle of our film at a playground, the scene here was pretty minimal and short so it was not much acting. The filming did not last too long for those scenes. We then moved into a house. This is where most of the filming is done. Even though we didn't finish. Trevor and Sydni got some lines rehearsed and 1 or 2 scenes shot. We still have more time to film and edit so we know everything will turn out fine. Today was also the day we finalized our shots. Me and Ayden worked to make sure the camera angles looked perfect. We are best friends. We have similar visions and both could tell if something was slightly off. The shots can never be perfect. But we tried our best to make them close to perfect. I cannot wait for the next days of upc
