Group Blog: Let's get to work

 Choosing my group seemed like a hard choice. Everybody seemed to latch onto their friends to be in a group. At first it seemed like everyone was choosing too quickly. But then I decided to join up with some of my friends. Ayden Marshall, Trevor Regli, and Sydni Stablein . I have classes with all of them. They are all my friends and they're very hard working. They shared with me some ideas. I can see a collective vision coming together. I like all of these people. I've worked with Ayden on other projects before. It turned out very good. We've made music together and he understands my creative process. I know Trevor and Sydni well. I know that they have other unforeseen talents to bring along with them. It's all starting to come together. These important 2 minutes are going to be the best 2 minutes in film. Just kidding, but I know it'll turn out great. I'm excited to see what's in store. Now we can get started on the movie work.

Trying to edit. Production blog

   We are still continuing to film. As we keep filming I can see our film coming together. Whether that be from the editing process beginning. Or whether that be from the new scenes we've filmed. I've started to realize a couple things. Here's the first thing. It takes a while just to film 2 minutes of a movie. Here is why. Shots need to be perfected. It takes a while to get a shot in a way in which you like it. Here is the 2 nd thing. Editing is hard. I think editing is such an underap preciated aspect . Today we edited. Cayden and I on his computer. We used an application called Videoleap I believe. Editing is such an important part of a movie. Even for 2 minutes of film. It took almost 1 hour for Cayden to finish successfully editing what we have already. Soon we will film with Luke and Zane for the final day of filming.

Which ones? -There are two titles displayed during the opening sequence the first one is just “Netflix presents” the second title displayed is the name of the movie in all caps.  2. What connotations do the images carry?  The image displaying the name of the movie carry’s an empty/chilling connotation. 3. How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset?  The genre is reinforced through the opening title scene through creepy noise/music playing with the title displayed in all caps over the water. This shows the genre by making the audience feel curious and somewhat scared for what will happen.  4. What conventions are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience? Title Website Research: Thriller. Movie: Splice

1.      How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film ? Which ones? -1 title is displayed during the opening scene. It is based around the discovery of cells and xrayed animals. The word Splice is shown written into skin.  2. What connotations do the images carry?  -The images displaying the title add to the creepy, suspenseful theme that there is something to do with animals. Xrays itself are not scary but the written text into skin is shocking to the audience and intrigues them.  3. How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset?  -The genre is reinforced by connecting back to the somewhat random other theme of the other aspects of the title sequence. The word "Splice" also is the same color as the skin making it look like a scar. As if someone's skin was imprinted with the word. 4.
