Back to the Luke's! Production blog

Filming a movie at Luke's house was an exciting experience. The house was large and beautiful. It had plenty of space for filming. It also had an abundance of natural light that would be perfect for capturing the scenes. However, as soon as I arrived, they realized there was a lot of work to be done to turn the set. The first order of business was to clear out any belongings that might be visible on camera. Luke was accommodating, and him and I quickly removed any clutter that might detract from the film's overall aesthetic. Next, the crew set up lighting equipment. As well as sound gear to ensure that every scene was captured with the best possible quality. The house itself presented both challenges. Along with opportunities for the filmmakers. The high ceilings lent themselves to dramatic shots, but the hallways also made it difficult to coordinate everyone involved in the project. The director and cinematographer had to work together. They mapped out each shot and ensure that every detail was accounted for. Despite the challenges, filming at Luke's house was awesome. The stunning architecture and spacious rooms provided the perfect backdrop for the film's story. The crew worked tirelessly to capture every moment. The end result was an amazing few scenes that showed the beauty of Luke's home.

Editing blog: Time for modifications!

 For editing the first half the video we took a simpler route. Giving Addison the job of main editor. We started out at the beginning of the song. I knew that we needed 1 minutes and 15 seconds of film but we could put the video at the start of any point in the song. We put the clips in order of what the storyboard called for. The video of me and my group walking into the ice rink. We bought our tickets and then the video pans to us putting on the ice skates. Addison used a great technique for this. I'm not sure exactly what editing software she was using but it gave a nice slide transition. I hadn't seen it before. It was quiet neat. Another thing I liked was the use of cropping. When the chorus was sung again, it showed us getting on the ice. I thought that it created a sense of memorization. Storyboard blog: Storyboard for our music video

  Storyboard Blog Scene 1: Our music video starts out with all the characters walking up to a ticket booth. The ticket booth of an ice skating rink. The characters hand the ticket booth worker money and buy their tickets. This will be a medium-long shot. Scene 2: There is a wipe transition to characters walking to the rink. They head over to the ice skates place. This will be an over the shoulder shot. Scene 3: There is a jump cut. They then purchase their ice skates. Everyone now grabs their ice skates in a medium-long shot. Scene 4: This scene starts out with a split screen of character putting on their ice skates. Tying their laces. It beings with a fade-in. Scene 5: Our characters walk onto the ice. We are using a tracking shot to follow them around the ice skating rink.  Scene 6: One of our characters is focused on. They are ice skating as well. This character slips and falls on the ice. We then use a quick zoom into our characters head for a transition into our next scene. Scene

Filming blog 2: Headed to the mall

 For the second half of filming the music video, we went to the mall. According to our storyboard we were to go to the mall and see Santa. Unfortunately, mall Santa was going to make us pay a fee. So we improvised. I grabbed some paper from a letter writing table nearby. I then shot everyone writing letters to Santa in an "over the shoulder" shot. I then shot everyone putting their letters into the Santa mailbox. I usually do not experience Christmas since I don't celebrate it. We then did some window shopping. Our music video idea was definitely a good idea. The mall was full of Christmas themed things! I liked that the whole mall could become a set for the music video. Every shop we went into had Christmas themed things. I had no idea that I would like Christmas stuff that much. I had to leave early from the mall.
