Critical Reflection

In this critical reflection I will be exploring how my movie, "Can't Be That Hard", does the following things. Represent social groups, create branding, engage with the audience, and how my movie uses/challenges conventions. All of these are key in a proper reflection and look back at one's work. Especially something so tedious and detailed as a short film.

My movie, "Can't Be That Hard", is about 3 friends who feel bored, so, they rob a bank. It is a story of irony and action. Looking back at our film through a lens of critical reflection, our product successfully represents issues people face today. In the film you can witness boredom due to technology and over stimulation. The 3 friends are too comfortable with their technology and are over stimulated by it to the point of deciding that robbing a bank could cure their boredom. This is a issue today and kids are desensitized to technology and enjoyable things that they find dangerous, scary alternatives.

Creating a sense of branding for your movie involves several key elements that work together to communicate a consistent message and image to your audience. In our case we have leveraged social media use and we've developed a unique vision. Through the use of social media, we got the word out about our movie and created a theme, a feel, for how we want the audience to receive the movie. We also created a unique vison, separate from those made before. A movie about 3 kids spontaneously deciding to rob a bank is creative, and unique. We catch the audience's attention by just having an interesting plot. Consistency in design, color scheme, and typography helps to create a unified look and feel that will make your movie recognizable and memorable. My movie's visual identity includes the postcard, website design, and any other visual elements associated with the film. We successfully hit all 3 of those points.

Engaging with the audience is crucial for the success of any movie, especially in today's age of social media where audiences have more opportunities to share their thoughts and opinions. Our movie about 3 kids robbing a bank engaged with its audience by, for one, its strong characters. The audience is drawn to the three main characters in the movie and their motivations for robbing the bank. The characters are relatable, likable, and intriguing. The audience may have become emotionally invested in their story and more likely to root for them throughout the movie. The next way we engaged with our audience was our uniqueness. The concept of three kids robbing a bank is an interesting and unusual storyline that piqued the audience's curiosity. The audience may have been curious to see how the story would unfold and how the characters would get away with their crime. The movie also found it essential to have proper social media use. I have created unique hashtags, shared behind-the-scenes footage, interviews with the cast, and even encouraged fans to share their thoughts and opinions on the movie through social media. The last way is through the oldest method in the book, word-of-mouth marketing. My movie may have generated positive word-of-mouth marketing if it was well-received. Audiences who enjoyed the movie may have recommended it to their friends and family, generating more interest and ticket sales. Overall, engaging with the audience involves creating a unique and interesting story, strong characters, and leveraging social media and word-of-mouth marketing to build excitement and anticipation for the movie.

Finally, our movie needed to challenge conventions. Here are some ways in which our research informed us on how to make our convention challenging short film. The protagonists are young children in our heist film. In most, the main characters are adults with years of experience and expertise in the criminal underworld. However, in my movie, the protagonists are children, which may subvert audience expectations and create a unique dynamic between the characters. Additionally, the crime is not glamorized. Many heist films glamorize the criminal lifestyle, with protagonists who are charismatic and charming despite their illegal activities. However, my movie takes a different approach by showing the serious consequences of the kids actions and the dilemma they face as a result. Through perfect use of editing, music, and angles, we are able to achieve a movie that is able to be understood but also seen as challenging conventions.

Our movie, "Can't Be That Hard" is about 3 kids robbing a bank. It is an important and creative addition to the world of cinema. It challenges traditional heist film conventions by featuring young protagonists, exploring unique themes, showcasing new talent, and addressing socially relevant issues. By bringing a fresh perspective to the genre, this type of movie offers a unique viewing experience that can appeal to a wide range of audiences. Furthermore, the themes explored in the movie, such as childhood innocence and social justice, can encourage viewers to think critically about their own values and beliefs. In this way, a movie about 3 kids robbing a bank can serve as both an entertaining and thought-provoking work of art.
